А уж если в кино пойти, то еще и в очереди за билетами стоять придется...

Agreed completely with that image. I hate when I buy a DVD that won't let me just go to the menu. I hit the menu button and get the little hand or something telling me no, so I have to try and fast forward through everything instead. What's the point in DVDs if they're no better than a VHS tape?

I couldn't agree more. At least it seems /some/ companies are figuring it out, and only not letting you skip past warnings, and legal stuff. Seems Disney is one of the few who has yet to figure this out, though granted, they are by far one of the worst offenders.

Most of my blu-ray discs at least let me skip to the pop up menus during previews. This got me curious and I tried to find the average time it takes to get to the menu on a blu-ray. I timed from the moment the first image appeared on screen, not counting initial loading as that can be effected by the player being used. Out of my 13 BD movies, the average is about 19.6 seconds to get to the menu or directly into the movie. That also includes a couple Disney movies, which surprised me, though granted they were among the longest at at 30 seconds or so. The longest I had to wait to be able to skip to a menu was 35 seconds, the shortest, was zero seconds.

At least they seem to be getting the idea.
