If God couldn't stop Adam from plucking apples off the tree in the garden of Eden, what chance does a company have in stopping millions of people from downloading software from millions of servers? -- an anonymous blog comment
The music industry needs to stop micro-managing the artists, micro-managing the fans, and micro-managing the technology, and move into the 21st century a little. And it would help if they kept the quality high, the prices low, and built and developed careers and supported career-minded, serious artists from bubblegum to prog-rock to whatever, instead of going for the quick buck, instant gratification from album #1, and blaming everything else for their troubles. And let them make the records they want to make, not the ones the company wants them to make.
Fire anyone who doesn't want to move in that direction. It should be about music, not money and power and status and playing with your cell phones and laptops.
Make music people are going to feel like buying, sell it at prices people can afford, get it to the people, get the fans involved in spreading the word, and don't be afraid to sit back and not meddle. Same for concerta and everything else. :-P
