So we're looking at buying a house in the next couple of years (and ideally in the next month to get the $6500 bonus from Uncle Sam).

We wanted a house we could host parties in so here is our ideal house.

1. 2000+ sqft with a decent kitchen.
2. 1/5+ acre lot (with a semi-private  backyard)
3. <30 min from UT in rush hour

Our neighborhood fits the bill. Though the lots vary a lot (ours is small, 0.14 acre). Most houses are >2000 sqft though, and <200K. Some have an HOA, our particular area has none. I commute to 360 & Bee Caves (approx) in 30 min flat. UT should be no prob.

I was looking at houses up there and they look nice. One of my friends lives in wells branch and likes it. We placed a bid on a house on S Manchaca that has some trees and if that doesn't work decent odds will start visiting some closer to you.
