hahaha, banning alcohol in Russia is like banning McDonald's in the US! People aren't honestly expected to follow through with that, are they?

They'd better ban McDonalds (we call it McDuck). :)
Generally now a lot of small shops are bankrupting and closing because of this prohibition - this form of business becomes unprofitable. And it's not good for people and for state in general. Earlier these shops worked around the clock and the main part of their profit was from selling of beer, light-alcoholic drinks and cigarettes. But now they can't get it. I guess that all of this is the result of lobby of major trade companies at our parliament.
Now I need go or even drive to a supermarket just for buying cigarettes at night, if the one exists close to my home. But there are no supermarkets in some districts of city or they are too far away to go on foot. And of course not all of people have cars.
