The characters, you might remember, left off in a diner hearing that the locus they had visited a few hours before was burning. So they rushed down there. Reese sniffed out a guy in the crowd who smelled of gas, slashed his back a little to get his blood (gotta love Partial Change), and the guy ran. Meanwhile, the other characters heard from Stalker (the totem) that the locus was dying, but could be saved...just not from this side.
So they charged into the burning building (taking damage in the process), stepped sideways, and through a variety of means managed to stop the spiritual damage. They also learned that a spirit had been involved in the fire, a spirit called Nithar Izi or "Fearful Fire."
They trakced down the arsonist, but met with the aforementioned fire spirit outside his apartment. The spirit kicked their ass a little until Phil hit on it's ban and drove it away. They kidnapped the arsonist (a former gangbanger named Emilio) and drove him to a storage facility to question him.
They questioned him, and also called the mysterious basement dwellar they met last session. Said dwellar (dubbed "Mr. Mysterio") sent an agent out to pry into Emilio's mind. That agent (Valerie) arrived, peered into his eyes, and said that he'd been influenced to start fires but was a borderline pyromaniac anyway and was probably just waiting for permission. At this point, the real drama began.
Phil wanted to turn Emilio over to the police or to Valerie. Reese wanted to kill him. They argued, both sides saying, "This is how it's going to be," and getting more and more pissed, until Zeke finally snuck over to the poor young man, changed to Dalu, and broke his neck. A few Death Rage rolls later (all successes, fortunately, so no fireworks of any real sort), and after some very heated words were exchanged, Zeke stomped off to be alone, Phil headed to his office at the museum, Scylla followed Zeke and then gave up and went to Phil's house, Reese wound up at Phil's house, and Bill went to work.
The fire-spirit tracked Zeke down and questioned him about killing its "pawn". Zeke stood by his actions, and the spirit said that since its methods of cleansing the problem in the city weren't working well it would leave the werewolves alone to do it. It warned him, however, that it could watch the city burn and feel no remorse or pity, so they'd better come up with something.
Clearly, this pack needs to resolve its alpha issues. The spirit warned Zeke that disunity was what killed the other werewolves in the city, and since they've seen the horror that waits for them, they need to figure out who's going to lead and when, and respect the leader's decisions.
Not sure yet what the next story is going to entail. Depends what they want to do. Maybe track down the surviving werewolf, which means I can have all kinds of fun things waiting for them wherever they go (though I'm thinking Denver, just because).
