I found a truly awesome webpage thingy - the SF Story Generator. Every time you refresh it it makes a new plot summary for a science fiction story. Here are some of the ones it gave me:
Mars is invaded by nasty aliens and everyone dies.
Mars is taken over by a time-travelling loony who returns to his youth and kills himself (I said he was a loony).

I learned yesterday that the company that makes Second Life has an office in Davis. Sweet! I applied for a contract position they had open. Of course this means I'll have to make a Second Life character to thoroughly research this career option. : ) -

Week three of job searching. I've had a few nibbles, but the two main ones were in cities about an hour away, and I'm not quite ready to settle for that kind of commute. I'm designing a website for a lawyer friend-of-a-friend, which is fun and will be a good thing to put on the resume when it's done. I'm also improving my old neural net project ( Read more... ) -

Question for you all: I'm thinking of setting up a website to house my software projects. danasullivan.com is taken. Which do you think would be easier to remember: danarsullivan.com (with my middle initial), or danasullivan.net? -
Writer's Block: Close Call
I rode a pony through a fence once, and came out the other side completely unharmed. My pony, Happy, was short enough to go under the fence when it was just him, and either didn't realize I couldn't go under the fence on his back, or wanted to scrape me off. The board we went through happened to be loose and it swung away harmlessly.

The service today at my UU church was a conclusion of the "coming of age program" for UU kids, and a lot of it was the kids reading short pieces they wrote about their beliefs. I really enjoyed it, especially when thinking about the analagous program I went through in the Methodist church - we finished up by reciting a confirmation statement that ( Read more... )
