[1445 Mitchell Road: About the house, open to housematesAir mattresses were not the most comfortable things in the world. It was better than just sleeping on the ground, yes, and they had gone camping enough with their son that Rick found sleep easy to come. [Eridan had been sitting at the breakfast table, waiting for the drone to cook for him. He hasn't gotten used to how slow she was at it. At least his former not!parents were quicker about the whole thing. Though, hearing the voice of another causes him to go searching through the house to find the source, eventually finding Grimes.]

About time this place was findin' another person to live here. It's been gettin' fuckin' lonely.

[Rick froze, halfway down the steps and still dressed for sleep. The person, no, well Rick didn't exactly know what the person talking to him was, wasn't like anything he'd ever seen before. Maybe out of Carl's comic books however much Lori had tried to limit him and Rick had snuck them under the table. Brown eyes widened a little as he tried to process exactly what the kid was saying. Regardless the dad in him kicked in without even blinking.]

Are you really old enough to be using language like that? [Slowly he took a step closer to Eridan already wishing he had something in hand just in case...] You weren't bit were you? By the Walkers?

Six what?

[Was there really some place out there that didn't have the Walkers? Question was, if that was true, how did he get there and where was his family or the rest of the Atlanta crew?]

Walkers. Well, we call them Walkers. Glenn calls them 'geeks', but Walkers is more fittin'. They're all dead with a penchant for living things.

[The sound of a bright, if not somewhat puzzled, British accent chimes on the phone lines.]

Walkers? I'm afraid I don't quite follow.

[For the first time in two days Rick was hearing a voice of another person that wasn't part of the Atlanta contingent. It was surreal in a way. His own reply was tired and worried.]

Christ... you mean to tell me noone here knows what those things are outside? Lucky if you don't, honestly. Walkers, or 'geeks' are dead. They used to be living humans until something happened or they got bit.

So, in other words, they're zombies? We've only had to deal with those once. It wasn't pleasant at all.

If a zombie is like a Walker, then yes. [Pausing, Rick frowned giving himself a chance to sit from his pacing in the kitchen he'd been doing.]

So you've already had to deal with them. Guess I was getting a little to hopeful this place hadn't been affected yet. What about these others, these cookie cutters from a 50's sitcom? They aren't like th' Walkers or anything.

It shouldn't be too hard to find them. This town is pretty small.

...And it's not like anyone's leaving anytime soon.

I don't exactly like being taken away from my family again after just finding them. Especially with all the Walkers out there coming out of the city.

Where are we exactly and how far away from Atlanta are we? Walkers might leave it when their food supply runs completely out. I'm not exactly wanting to be caught unprepared again.

My best guess is that your Atlanta is about as far away as my Balamb. Because I've never heard of this town before, much less 'The United States of America'.

[ He'll pause a bit to let the guy try to process it. It does sound crazy. ]

Mayfield. People say a lot of horrible things happen here. Not that I'd really know. Just arrived several days ago myself.

I can't say I know what a "walker" is. [ aside from part of his surname- that's part of what caught his ear ] But I do have a pamphlet that explains the basics of the town, if you'd like it.

I'd appreciate that. Apparently being thrown in to world upturning situations is becoming a thing for me.

[Rick had to pause. So many people not knowing about the Walkers was disheartening yet slightly hopeful in a strange way. The idea of there being one place left in the world that hadn't been affected was, well, he'd have to see.]

A Walker is one of the undead. Some people call them 'geeks', but Walkers are better terms. They have a taste for anything that's living or fresh.

Oh, you mean zombies? We had some of those, but they're long gone.

They call them drones.

And how do you know they're even here?

I don't, but I have to hope they are. It's what got me to them in the first place.

[Besides, Rick was all about goals. He had to have them else he'd start to crack more than he already was.]

Drones. All right, I'll bite. What's wrong with them?

Well, it's not a giant town. If they're here, you'll find them.

As for the drones, this town took everything that they are, and replaced it with creepy brainwashed people in their bodies.

Some are gone permanently, some temporary.
