My Dad told me on Sunday that he is praying that I'll find a new close friend, and I didn't know how to answer when he asked how that was coming along, because I'm making friends, but...I maintain that it takes 3 years to build a super close friendship. There may be exceptions, but that's usually been my experience. But those three years can be good.
And where am I finding a life? My housemates, with whom I go climbing as often as possible, my co-workers, with whom I probably spend the most time, since I spend a lot of free time alone or with visitors. And then, I've randomly met a handful of people other places - and those are precious, too, because you can never know where they come from. I have one friend I met on the plane from Chicago, and one I met at a church that neither of us attend.

What is this new plan? What is the program you're doing?
I always find I think I'm getting nowhere with making friends and then suddenly I turn around and find I've made a handful of them without realizing it. Sometimes I realize that while I'm complaining to them how hard it is to make friends. :D
