Pirate!Tim fic

So I've been sitting on this Pirate!Tim fic that I wrote for a drawing by Chien http://pikakao.livejournal.com/359625.html, and I was too dissatisfied with it to post it, but then I rediscovered this community!  Perfect!  Because here, there is no shame.  And someone will read it and help me, or read it and tell me to just let it die, or no one ( Read more... )

I... I want more of this. Seriously. It sounds like so much fun! I think if the Batcove was part of the Justice League Island (better name later), then it would make sense. XD The place where metas hide... That way the speedsters are there for a reason! And they can run across water anyways, so they don't have to live there. All they need is a letter that says "be there by..." and they can just run across the ocean and-- and yeah! I like the idea of Tim meeting Bart first, since that's a bigger meeting than with Kon ( ... )

Dude you rock! The JL Island totally works, in that cracky I-already-made-them-pirates-so-why-not kinda way, and I'm a complete moron for forgetting that the speedsters can run on water. Cool idea for Clark too, although I have to be careful about a Bruce/Wally/Clark triangle, don't want to inadvertantly copy victoria_wayneKon trying to get out from under Clark's overprotectiveness makes perfect sense as a reason to join them. I kind of glossed over Tim's reason for leaving, I couldn't actually think of one besides killing off his parents right before the Pearl came back, and I didn't want to do that to Timmy. Oh but I think I misspoke earlier, Kon isn't a deckhand, he's a...I have no idea what you call them, dock worker? The guys that load and unload ships, I thought that would work well with his TTK. Hm, maybe Kon kinda ran away to go do that, and then Clark finds him again as the Pearl is docking, and wants to go with Tim and Bart and convinces Clark he can write a story on Wayne and Wayne lets him on because he figures it'll boost his ( ... )

As much as I adore Bruce/Wally... I have this huge softspot for Dick/Wally because it's so hard to find and it's so DORKY. I think they don't ALL have to be pirates... just Bruce's scurvy crew. :3 Everyone else can do their own thing-- and diplomat might work after all. Wondy's always done that sort of thing. They don't have to live on the island, after all, they just need to work there. And since most people can fly or have found their own way to do this, it should be fine ( ... )

Wally usually takes messages between the JLers (I may add something to the beginning of Tim thinking he saw a strange wave stop at the ship, so it's not like Bruce has been totally isolated for a year), but the reports of a sea monster kicking up waves and spray has sent a team of scientists/mythhunters looking for him, so he needs to lay low for awhile on Bruce's ship. Clark has been finding it harder and harder to not help people using his powers, even though he knows that would get him captured as a freak, and he eventually broke down and saved an orphanage from a fire (or something slightly less saparific). Now he's being hunted as well, and doing the story about Bruce will get him away from his pursuers on land, put him under the protection of the other JLers, and reestablish his identity as Clark Kent to alleviate suspicion. (these were, of course, kon+bart+tim's plots to get the guys on the ship, ha). I think with this many guys aboard, half of them metas, we don't need any other crew, so they can all be pretty open ( ... )

And the Bat clashes with Dianah, the pirate princess of Amazonia! Wally/Bart mechanics for the win, and Kon being the illegitmate son of a legitimate naval officer, and he runs off to be a pirate and is found floating in the wreckage with a pendant that gives him super powers.

And aside from the Bat, there is the Cat, a fearsome femme fatale who steals other pirate's ill-gotten goods for her own, and has her seconds Holly and Steph, otherwise known as Thorn, and of course, her lietenant, Rose.

And the one lone man on the ship, the one-eyed Jay, who rarely ever speaks so his parrot does it for him.

You should write a pirate fic too! I like the Selina idea especially. "One-eyed Jay" cracked me up, I'm not sure why, it's just a great name.

Ah, but such a fic would require it be long and plot-filled, and I...really don't have any ideas for that.

I'd be willing to give you all of my ideas so you could write it, though. :)

Yay, I'm so glad you liked it! Crackfic really is the funnest kind (I can make funnest a word if I want to dammmit), I'm having a fabulous time with it. :) I'll get the second draft up as soon as I can, right now I'm being torn between all the school/housework I know I Should do and just sitting here all night and writing. :D

This was fun, I hope you write more. i like the idea of Bart and Kon standing guard over Tim during the day and thinking that their being really sneaky about it and Tim doesn't know.

Random fact. The most sucessful pirate of all time was called Black Bart!

Ooo, the ineffective trying to be sneaky is perfect, I didn't think of that, thanks! Black Bart, really, are you joshin me? Cause if you're not joshin me, Bart's totally naming himself that and running around the ship waving a sword and screaming "Arrr!" and trying to be fierce and just being totally adorable. Tim won't be able to resist kissing him, god knows I wouldn't be able to. ;)

Nope not kidding. I tend to read or watch totally random things and I watched a programme a while back called "The Real Pirates of the Caribbean" and Black Bart was on that.

Bartholomew Roberts born John Robert (May 17, 1682 - February 10, 1722), also known as Black Bart (Welsh: Barti Ddu), was a Welsh pirate who raided shipping off the Americas and West Africa between 1719 and 1722. He was the most successful pirate of the golden age of piracy, capturing far more ships than some of the best-known pirates of this era such as Blackbeard or Captain Kidd.[1] He is estimated to have captured over 470 vessels.[2]

For the first "canon" part you posted, there were a few grammar things I would have changed. But as usual, I have to warn you that I go by feel and not by any exact English law, so I'll email you some ideas when I get back tonight.

Oh, and I think I could use this as my front to break past this damnable writer's block. I don't want to take over your story, but maybe I could dabble in the idea? I'm not sure what you meant when you texted me, but I'd be happy to play in your game. Maybe origin stories or flashbacks or those vague short tales where you think you know which character I am referring to...

Heh, honestly I'm not exactly sure what I meant either. I think I had the vague idea that we'd go back and forth on it like Chien and I did here in the comments, but I really don't have time to give this the epic treatment that it deserves by tomorrow. So either you can write the epic (I know you'd do it better than me) or you can use the idea for your block. :) I'm emailing you the other ideas we had.

I'm at home now and willing to give this a go. :]

I do have a question though, is this a PotC cross-over because you mentioned the Pearl at the start. I'm kind of biased against all the PotC fiction (it's a me thing) but I'm all for generic pirates. Is this okay?

Hee, it's not a PotC crossover at all. It's just generic pirates, I just love pop culture references. I named Bruce's ship the Pearl as a nod to the Black Pearl but mostly because of the infamous pearls that belonged to Bruce's mother.
