Good vocabulary? Swap words for food

I know a lot of people on my flist are proud of their vocabulary. Well, here's a test for you, and at the same time you can earn grains of rice as contributions to the UN World Food Programme. For every word whose meaning you guess correctly, you'll earn 20 grains of rice towards the UN programme. 100 grains is a bowl.

I've kept meaning to go to that website! For months now-- I'll hear about it, think "Hmm, I should go do that", and entirely fail to. And now, thanks to you, I've finally managed it. ^^ 50, so far, though I tend to slowly get up and then get kicked back down almost to forty... Most helpful seems to be Latin, years of standardized tests, and fantasy novels... *blinks*

YAY! 50's pretty damn good. I've come to the conclusion that my flist is really intelligent. The website says it's very rare to get much above 48, and I also posted about this on another forum I frequent in a different fandom. There, the highest score (apart from mine) is 46, with some as low as 30.

I love that site! It's amazing how many words I don't know I can guess with even a passing knowledge of roots and such. Also, the number of biology words makes my college studies feel good for something. Wish they were good from something higher than level 48.

So I spent the lunch hour at FR and had a great role. Made it up to 53 to keep it for two words and then back to 51. Figure I better stop with the high now before I become frustrated. Had a great run of medical and medieval terms with a toss up of four sailing terms. Guess I better get back to reconciliation of report data.

Oh, I love that site! It's addictive, isn't it? Last time I tried, I got up to 48 for a few rounds, but then I soon dropped to 42, as some of the words were really hard for a non-native speaker like me...
