Haven't read much Sherlock Fic as Sherlock himself is a recent discovery. But this just popped up on my LJ feed when I was looking for something good to read. And it was a great story! I fell a bit more in love with John, whose reasoning and emotions and voice all rang very true here. Right from the start with "it shouldn’t even be possible, but Sherlock does so enjoy shoving impossible out the door."

And I really liked the insights into Lestrade. Sherlock was, as he is, a delight. Best, briefest scene-setter ever:

"Hospitals are dull."

Just echoes the way that with all the lovely angst and drama going on around him, Sherlock cuts straight to his own impatient state of mind.Very enjoyable, absorbing story.

Wow, that's a huge compliment - that you'd read this even though you don't really read Sherlock fic. Thank you! I will definitely point this comment out to my co-author also. It's almost three years since we wrote this, so honestly it's got to the point where I don't remember exactly which bits I wrote, so those lines you quote could be by either of us - either way, I'm delighted you liked them :) Thanks for quoting them!

I do love John and Sherlock living and working together (and hope the series will revert to that soon), with John as the sane one and Sherlock the often-irritating genius - though I also liked the greater empathy he showed in the most recent episodes. Regardless, it's the excitement and humour and exasperation and genuine friendship that I like so much about John and Sherlock's relationship, and this is what we were aiming for here.

Thank you again! :)

No... I had computer failure and never went looking for it on my backup drive. I may not have an electronic copy anymore.
