This was just so cute. The way they care about each other, the way they see each other. Wonderful stuff! And lovely hurt/comfort with a happy ending :D Loved it.

Thank you so much! Given that it's set so early in their partnership, I wanted to keep the level of mutual caring fairly light (and subtle rather than overt), as appropriate for the time. I'm glad it came across well.

And, of course, I didn't manage to avoid every trope here (part of what I was doing here was an exercise in trope-avoidance); as you point out, I included hurt/comfort! Ah well :)
