I've just seen, via the wonderful
roxyk630, who spoke with Katie's mother, that
Katie is safe! She is in a shelter and managed to speak with her mum.
Awaiting confirmation, and will add more when I hear it.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this information-exchange. And, Katie, we're all still thinking of you and hoping that the next few days will be bearable for you and that you can get on your plane home as planned.
So relieved.
ETA: I've now had an email from Katie's mother myself. Correction on the above information: Katie managed to make contact with the US consulate. The consulate called Katie's sister, as her parents have recently moved and Katie did no remember their new number. She is safe, though as yet there is no more news and her family don't know when they'll be able to speak to her themselves.
Please
keep those v-gifts coming. Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was over 100 there to welcome her home?
