In my experience, this kind of review-begging isn't even necessary. I look at the Teaspoon profiles of each and every person who leaves me a review.

Wow, that's dedicated of you! I confess I don't do that, though if someone's made a particularly thoughtful or interesting comment and I don't recognise the nick I might do.

I think of it as a way of meeting people. I may not enjoy the fic of every person who reviews, but I'm getting to know a little more of the fandom every day :)

Oh dear.
I suspect that the author is best off simply not responding to that, though a bunch of snarky replies do spring to mind:
"No, dear, leaving a (two-word) review is not sufficient bribe for me to check out your stories."

LOL! Yes, definitely not worth a response, IMO - there's just no point inviting wank, particularly not when someone's actually taken the time to leave a comment on one's fic (even despite the shameless plug).
