I caught myself going, "Wow, spoilt princess? Chill the hell out, Jack Harkness!" Well, it might have been more profane than that. >_>

But I can tell he's been made quite a mess of by something. And he also chose a very bad frame of mind with which to try and make nice. Not to mention bad timing! I'll forgive Rose that outburst, because holy crap, she's JUST been told that she won't make it home like TWO SECONDS AGO.

Not one of Jack's finest hours, definitely. But I'm glad you're wondering what's behind it - and, yes, his timing could have been an awful lot better. What's more, he could even have worked that out for himself.

Thank you! I'm glad you continue to enjoy this :)

I am really loving this. I feel so bad for Jack, but he is being a jerk, isn't he? I really like Rose's final comment and I hope it makes him see things from her perspective. I really find your alternate Doctor and Jack interesting - I like that the Time War was longer ago for this Doctor, so he's had more time to heal and I do like his relationship with Jack. Looking forward to more and to an understanding between Rose and Jack!

It's interesting that I'm getting such different reactions to Rose's parting shot. True but unnecessarily harsh? Deserved? Or exaggeration and cruelly below the belt? As to whether it's likely to make Jack see things from Rose's perspective - or just put his back up further - read on to find out!

I'm really glad you're enjoying this and thank you!

And this is only chapter three? There's so much unspoken, I feel like it's the start of something much larger!

I'm standing by my earlier theory that Jack has known a Rose Tyler in some form before, although I'm now not so convinced that they were necessarily friends previously. It sounds, from that conversation between Jack and the Doctor, that they were quite the opposite.

I wonder, though - there's obviously a catalyst in the making here. I wonder what it will be?

Incidentally, I have had the urge to write OT3. I blame you.

Well, there may be six chapters. I don't know yet ;)

As for your theory, I think you'll find that Chapter 4 will contain some important revelations. You can let me know what you think after you've read it!

I have had the urge to write OT3. I blame you.

*is very happy to take the blame for this excellent development*

Poor Rose. I hope her final comment to Jack does something to make him nicer. Otherwise she seems to have a pretty dismal future on the TARDIS. :( More soon?

Well, I don't think it was Rose's finest hour either, to be honest - but, yes, something has to give.

More very soon! And thanks for commenting :)

The plot (and the characters)keep getting more complicated and more interesting.

I feel very sorry for Rose, and to a lesser extent, the Doctor. I probably should feel sorry for Jack, but right now I want to slap him. Have a clue, Jack: it's not Rose who is acting like a spoiled child...

I think, from his internal monologue when he made his determination to make friends with Rose (hah!), that he does have a clue he's acting like a spoiled child. I also think that when Rose hit him with her backstory of *not* being a society princess, he realized that he's been wrong about her in more ways than one. Unfortunately, that realization just prompted him to try to justify the way he's been treating her via another tactic--which backfired massively. I foresee brooding.

Oh, yes, he's definitely wrong about Rose, and in ways beyond those you're currently aware of.

Brooding? Well... we'll see ;)

Complicated and interesting are good :)

As for Jack, he's behaving badly, yes; but so is Rose. And I agree with honorh: Jack's not oblivious to how he's behaving. He's simply not able to behave differently right now, for reasons which... well, we'll see whether you consider them good or not very soon.
