And how the American public was up in arms that Asian interests, primarily the Japanese, were buying up huge interests in the American west?  My memory of it is mostly my parents and grandparents complaining how our government has failed to protect the American public from being bought out by a foreign country and my grandfather in particular ( Read more... )

So, you explained to me OFF LJ the implications of this type of thing...but the question to me is, what can we actually do about it? I've not really even heard of this, but it makes sense that it's happening. I don't WANT them having a 'silent voice' in my country's policies...

The 'do' part is rather complicated. It would involve some brass tacks that I am not sure either the public or at least a majority of our elected officials have. I will have to give it more thought.
