No, they won't.

At least this time, the disparity between the military strength of the Free World and its opponents should be enough to make the war a swift and decisive one - provided the gloves come off in time.

Given the disparity between Afghanistan (to name just one undeveloped country) and both ‘the Free World’ and the USSR I wouldn’t get your hopes up. It also begs the question of what or who ‘the Free World’ is ( ... )
