I like my friends.

Tautological, I know.

I like my friends, and I like to be able to go on being friends with them, and to like them as people despite occasional lapses on their parts into see-icon-and-remember-Stein-remarking-on-the-Tugendbund.

It is therefore with profound relief - the relief of a man who sees some prospect of keeping his temper and thus his ( Read more... )

Am intrigued, but clueless, so I shall simply say 'my best to you and yours' and hope that your reduced interaction is all that you hope it to be. :)

We all need a break sometimes.

Enjoy the cricket!

We're singing some Bairstow this weekend - but I'm guessing you're talking about a different Bairstow.

Cricket it is. I may have to attend a match this year, since we have India touring, and they are my all-time favourite team, because they are such loose cannons - you never know whether they will be utterly brilliant or awe-inspiringly bad. Or both, in the same innings. I imagine this is very frustrating for true cricket afficionados, but I find this complete unpredictability really livens up a Test Match.
Also, our commentators have a tendency to go on and on and on about the size of Tendulkar's bat (which is reportedly massive) until it's impossible not to start wondering about euphemisms and homoerotic subtext. And I honestly don't think they realise how they sounds, which amuses me even more. So I'm in favour of any team with Tendulkar in it just on principle...

- dux femina facti, in fact - we shouldn’t be confronted w the rage of dreaming - oh, look, ovis ovem sequitur! Hmph … half apparent rari nantes in gurgite vasto and half sævitque animis ignobile volgus, iamque faces et saxa volant, really.

(Sic vos non vobis vellera fertis oves, you lot.)
