About your questions... i have no idea.:D I am beginner too and can't help you much. But those roses are lovely! Keep going i bet you will soon be master at it!:)
Hahaha, thank you! :D It took me a while to get started on projects because I'd start and then unravel the whole thing because I didn't like how it turned out. >< My first completed project was a scarf, but the edges were so wonky... ...And then I ran out of the yarn, so it wasn't even human sized once I got to the end of it. LOL. But it definitely gets better!
For me, if I wanted to create something from scratch/create my own pattern, I basically just have to sit down and think of the various shapes of it - for the Pon and Zi characters, the head can be a round "ball". The bodies can be a long cylinder, and the arms can be a narrow cylinder (I'm actually not familiar with those characters, so I don't know if their legs look the same as the arms, but if they do, then they'd be like the arms
( ... )
Wow! Thank you so much! :) I wasn't expecting so much, haha. Your comments make perfect sense, I am definitely going to be referring back to these directions when I start this project. Incidentally, they don't have legs. LOL. Their bodies would be the base as well. So, I suppose I should shape them more like a cylinder than a ball? Thank you again for all the help! :)
Yeah, since they don't have any legs you can still shape the body into a cylinder shape. Maybe even to help keep them standing (if you'd like them to stand upright on their own, without having them to lean against anything), you can get those little tiny beans, that they use for beanbags or other plush toys. It'll involve some sewing, but youc an make a little sack and put the beans in, close it up and put that at the bottom of the body before you stuff it. It'll give it a bit of an anchor and weight to it, and hopefully that'll also help keep them standing up up on their own too :)
And any time! I'm glad I could be of some help! :)
I didn't think of that. :0 I was planning on just stuffing them, but that sounds even better. Next time I go to a craft store, I'll be sure to look for that. I just got the colored yarns I needed, so let's hope I make it through this project and finish! Thank you! :)
Are you a member of Ravelry yet? They have a great selection of amigurumi patterns, most of them are free. I don't remember seeing patterns for the particular characters you're looking for, but if any site has them, Ravelry is the one most likely to have them. Or something similar that you can adapt.
Regardless, if you're not a member of Ravelry yet, I highly recommend you join up. It's free to join.
A very nice first post! :o) Thanks so much for sharing! There's some great advice here! :o) And you've already made a terrific start, with your cuties. :o)
Hollyannvix has given you terrific pointers! That's how I design my ami's also. Look at pics and analyze the shapes, then go from there. Once you break it down into shapes, it becomes so much simpler. :o) And I second lkk's suggestion of checking out ravelry.com! There's a wealth of information and advice there, all for free! They have an enormous index of patterns and projects where you can search and browse. Also, you can check the tags here for lots of wonderful examples and help. I recommend checking the 'beginner' and 'beginners' tags for some great posts. :o) There are links to some wonderful video tutorials on the left side of our home page here.
Enjoy your amigurumi creations! And please post them, we love to see them! :o)
