Hi, has anyone made the vintage 'stuffed donkey' pattern?

I tried it while waiting for the bus, but I think I MUST be doing something wrong coz the bit I have doesn't look like anything at the moment. This is what I have at the end of row 23.

did you test to see if your gauge was the same ? as its a vintage pattern the yarn/ hook may be a bit different ?

Yes, I figured out last night that it really is a vintage pattern, and as such should be read with several grains of salt, and a brain that wasn't thinking of other things at the same time :s

I'm not sure what's wrong. It looks like you crochet it and then fold it over? It might not be following the 'traditional' rules of amigurumi.
