i have 6mm eyes i was trying to attach to an ami with a long pointy face...  and i can't get the plastic backs to go on them.  any suggestions?  i'm also wondering if the size and shape of the project is what's making it so difficult.  thanks.

I usually try to press the backing on through a few layers of my crocheting so it doesn't hurt my fingers as much. When it's really difficult, I use my teeth to press it together. In that case you need to snap on one side, then the other, and sort of see-saw it until it's snug.

Eeek! Don't use your TEETH, sakura_tikoku!! You could chip or crack them!

They are a real b#$@% sometimes. I usually give them to my DH and bat my eyes and ask for help. :P

There's a really great discussion in one of the amigurumi groups on www.ravelry.com about this, with some really cool techniques!

You have to be a member of ravelry to see it, but I recommend membership (it's free) to everyone, because it's such an amazingly useful site!
