Princess Leia Organa: Captain, being held by you isn't quite enough to get me excited

So I'm really into my amigurumi. And I thought, lets share it with friends and family. Jay's best mate Nicky is a Star Wars addict and he loves collecting anything to do with the film. So, naturally... I got out the crochet hook. It's his 20th birthday next week, and instead of buying one expensive present, we can now buy him something less ( Read more... )

Ooooooo! It's Lea, right? The hair is always the hardest part for me. I think I might be tempted to do a magic loop of about 8, slip stitch the last sc to the first sc, and call it a bun. Of course this would depend on how big she is. If she is big, you could use a bigger crochet hook and do more sc in the magic loop. But your hair looks just fine. I'm only suggesting that since you didn't seem happy with it.

(now I have Star Wars music going thru my head!)

IMDB.com says Leia. She's only about 3 and a half inches tall :)
I'm gonna make Hans Solo next, his hair's longer, so i think i'll manage that without too much stress!

Duh, sorry, I missed the title - where you clearly state that yes, this is Princess Leia (which I also spelled wrong).

I totally recognized that as Princess Leia! So don't feel bad if it didn't turn out exactly the way you wanted it. I'm sure she'll be loved no matter what. ♥

PS - Hair is something I try to avoid making. ;) I can't get it quite right.

Very cute! Amigurumi make the best gifts, don't they? For the buns, I would just braid some yarn, twist it into a coil, secure the ends and then stitch it onto the side of the head. I did something similar to create the topknot on my Xaldin plushie, except the braid was wrapped around a bunch of other hair strands.

Hair is hard, I sympathise. TAT I'm doing an ami of my favourite video game character, and he has long straight hair. It shouldn't be hard, but his faux-bangs are in two 'chunks' in the front. So of course, it is.

Thanks for the reply. I've been tempted to try gifts for my boyfriend's little brother, who is totally into anything Japanese, and of course, his favorite games, anime, manga... all have crazy bangs!
Good luck with your hair!
