Katamari Damacy Hats

This isn't really a critter, but I used amigurumi techniques to make the hat, and it basically turns a person's head into a big Katamari Ball! These can be custom ordered on my Etsy Shop.

Yeah, very cool. I remember seeing those linked on boingboing some time ago. So I can only imagination what exposure there did to her waiting list!

This is freakin' awesome. Did you stuff the little bumps on it or anything?

Yeah. I actually stuffed them with plastic bags, that way if the hat gets wet in the rain/snow the stuffing won't get all lumpy!

I would feel really bad selling a design I didn't originally create.

I did actually create it. I've never seen one of the other chick's hats outside of pictures so it's not like I stole her pattern. If you compared the hats she sells and the ones I make side by side there would be very obvious differences anyway. I made this hat because a girlfriend of mine came to me and said "My brother wants a hat that looks like a katamari ball, but this other chick is selling them for really expensive and has a waiting list of like a gabillion years." So I made her one. People liked it and asked if I would make more, so I listed it on my etsy shop.

If the person who first made hats that look like katamari balls wants to make an issue of it she can, but I'm not hurting her business at all, if she is even still making them. Last I checked she had a waiting list for more hats than she could handle. Again, if she has a problem with me selling katamari hats, she and I can discuss it.

It's not like she *invented* Katamari balls. I don't see a problem with what you're doing, unless it was Namco going after you, they're the only ones who have any claim as they own the game.
