She comes by some of it naturally. But she also has a fear of failure and a major inferiority complex, because her sister excelled at damn near everything and was handpicked by Tseng. So she pushes herself. Hard.

Yeah, if Rufus or Tseng told her to, LMAO. But she has no real sense of self-accomplishment. It all hinges on the attention and praise of someone else. But then she wants more, and one thing leads to another. She doesn't know how to quit while she's ahead.

What's she hoping to get out of Dismas/becoming a sort of Anatole businesswoman?

How's she holding up without Reno?

She's working from the ground up. Soon all of Anatole will be under her control for the glory of ShinRa.

Reno is a tough, tough blow for her. She still has Val, but Val was a Turk who was slightly before her time, and also a comrade of her sister...who Elena hates. She likes Zack a lot, but she knows from the files that he should be dead. With Reno, there was a sense of normalcy. Now she doesn't have anyone that she completely trusts to give her orders, advice, and pull her in when she's spinning out of control.

does she ever realize the kind of impressions her efforts make on others, or is she always just so focused on making an impression that it doesn't occur to her?

That's a good question! I don't think she's trying to make an impression at all. If she sees an opportunity for something, she hits it like a linebacker. Or...whoever it is that does the hitting. I don't know football, okay.

Sometimes she is aware of what people think of her after the fact. It confuses her a little. Like, she really doesn't understand why Senji's mad at her!
