Holiday Highlights, 2007

Happy New Year, Friends List! How is it 2008 already?

Sarah and I are back from visiting her relatives, including the grandparents I hadn't yet met. I think I behaved reasonably well and my allergies didn't completely do me in. ( Blah blah blah travel )

television, travel, holidays, family, notable quotable

lobsterdrop gardens sounds like my kind of place! (especially when you can eat the menagerie!)

You would love it! Although it may not be edible any more what with the royal icing and having sat in the frigid Dishwasher for a week. (Apparently I am to destroy it when Sarah is not present...care to assist in that endeavor?)

Yes, absolutely. I don't make new year resolutions, but I do want to do a better job of seeing friends regularly this year.

And now that I've announced it publicly, I have to follow through, don't I? ;)

There's a Ballet Shoes movie? I do like that book a great deal.

According to IMDB, it was made for television this year.

Indeed. They tweaked a few of the characters and the relationships between them (we can't have a made-for-TV movie without a love triangle, can we?) but overall I felt it preserved the authenticity of the story quite well. (Saraheeyore can confirm this, though, as she was a bigger fan of the book than I.) We all agreed that it was not a cinematic masterpiece, but was in fact, quite cute and nicely presented.

PBS is airing 4 new Jane Austen miniseries as part of Masterpiece Theater's "Complete Jane Austen". I'm pretty sure that's what my boss wanted me to read about when he handed me the Wall St. Journal this morning. I mean where else do you go for your Jane Austen news?

Yes! That is the one I am referring to!

England. But the Wall Street Journal is cheaper. And less time-consuming. Good call.

Maybe one day I'll be ex-repatriated, like Hax. Not that I'm really planning on this, I just wanted to say ex-repatriated.

That's exactly what I was thinking, actually, in making that comment. Gosh, I'm pathetic.
