[He'll sleep awhile more, exhausted. But when he does wake, a painful shudder courses through him, ghosts of pain in his body, and when he opens his eyes he takes a very deep breath, letting it out with a long, shaky sigh. For a moment, he's simply staring ahead, not really seeing the ceiling even though it's there.]
[It's that moment when Holland decides to be the most direct he's been with Canada so far.
He leans forward slightly, resting his hand against the side of her head and moving in, giving her a kiss. It's gentle, but loving, and longer than hers.]
[Which says nothing for her apology, of course. Way to be reassuring.
The kiss is nice, though, and she can't help but lean into a little, putting that little tiny bit of nervous effort into kissing him back until she feels him ease up. Then she'll pull away again, though not nearly so far.]
[He takes a breath, running his fingers through her hair, tucking some behind her ear. He's pretty sure he's wanted to do that for a long time, since the first time she made him breakfast, or maybe the first time she gave him a hug.]
[She brings a hand up to tentatively rest at the back of his neck, leaning into the kiss again. She's still feeling like she's not completely sure what's going on, but this sure beats the few days they just got through. And she has to admit, being kissed by him is terribly nice. Nicer than she expected, even.]
[Cheeks flushed, she just watches him a moment, before slipping her arms around him to hug him tightly, face pressed against his shoulder. She's not sure what to say, but maybe the hug will cover it.]
[He'll wrap his arms around her, one around her middle, the other around her shoulders, hand on the back of her head as he tucks her head under his chin, nuzzling just a little. He's not going to work, he's not going in the yard, he's just. . . not leaving, not today.]
[Quiet for a little while, she'll snuggle close to him. Things are safe and quiet right now, relatively speaking. She intends to take advantage of it.]
