I just love these analyses you do. It brings so much into focus.

So, before episode three airs, what do you think has happened to Mycroft? He seems to have taken Sherlock's advice to heart and is prepping for a relationship. He's suggested that he's had sexual partners, although probably no one significant. Sherlock has teased him about never talking to women. So I'm thinking it's Lestrade in his sights (especially since everyone else is paired up). I don't know why he's making a change now, maybe it's seeing lots of evidence of other people's happiness, and there is a huge storm on the horizon that I have to think he is aware of. Perhaps it's a carpe diem situation, mid-life crisis hitting. If it is Greg (and I hope it is) I can see that being very good for Mycroft. Greg is a very open, emotional creature and would be like medicine for Mycroft.

I'd been avoiding your commentaries cause I hadn't seen the episodes yet. But now I've seen them all I feel free to comment with a modicum of intelligence ( hopefully ). I'll try to avoid spoilers ( ... )

Oh thank you! Yeah I thought they were doing something a little bit like that but I thought they were having the conversation to point to something in the future coming up - and it sort of does later on down the line. But I did get a bit lost with the goldfish because I thought Sherlock was saying Mycroft either DID have a goldfish ( i.e. relationship ) or was in scenting distance of having one. THAT'S kinda why I got confused - although I totally didn't see the actual client coming back again until it happened, lol.

Don't mind me, I'm schlow * grin *

The hat scene exchange was an homage to 'The Blue Carbuncle.'
