To check on a couple of things. I was on the hold list for the new Harry Potter, and figured that I should remove myself, because I had already received and read a copy. I was number 158 out of 815 hold requests!

I'm still on the list for the latest Stephen King / Richard Bachman novel Blaze and can't wait to get my hands on that! In the

Everytime I go to the library to pick something up (3x a week) there is at least one HP book waiting to be picked up. I wouldn't be able to wait for that book for so long.

For fun I went to check.
The HP in the YA/Adult section
Reservable Copies: 555 Number of Holds: 445

The Children's section
Reservable Copies: 826 Number of Holds: 248

So the wait isn't so bad here.

Well Portland is a city that reads. We're home of Powell's Books, and numerous other book stores. We also have the highest circulation per patron in the US at our Multnomah County Library System. :) So vast #'s of people request popular books and it takes quite a while to filter through, because people can have a book for 3 weeks and only can't renew if there is someone on hold for it.
