So, since my desktop tower crapped out, I'd been looking for something to replace it. My folks have a special computer guy they trust, so I sent them the specs on what I was looking for, and one computer in particular that I had found a deal on. First of all, emachines are bad news! They tend to kick the bucket fast and aren't reliable for the long haul. I went through one in a year. That's a big flush of 450 duckies down the drain. The reps at emachines don't know what they're talking about and love to argue with customers. To get them to fix it right the first time is an act of Congress.
Pull out the Memory Stick and Hard Drive from your old comp. They have all your programs, etc on them. When you get your new comp. pull out the old HD, and place in your old Memory Stick. That should do the trick. You should invest in an external HD as well. That will save you any grief in the end.

Well I first have to get the damn thing running which I haven't as of yet. Maybe I should try to send the damn thing back to TigerDirect.com!

I would. It got so bad with my computer that it wouldn't get off of the log in e. In order for it to run for me, I had to flick the power stick several times real quick. I got fed up and called emachines directly demanding a box and sent the piece of computer back to them. I'm now working on a Mac until I can find another PC that will fit my needs.
Just a piece of bit of information, emachines used to be Gateway.
Have a friend or family member take a gander at your computer. There could be something or things unplugged.

That's what my friends have diagnosed from my description of the problem. I just haven't found someone with the skill and time to come and look at it, and I know better than to go scrabbling around in the case since I don't know what should be connected where.

Thanks!
