Postseason Predictions

Oct 03, 2008 21:03

I remember it being said that people would prefer to get back to this once they knew who was going forward to the postseason. We're now a few games in and I was wondering what people's thoughts are, who they think is going to the World Series, and who they'd like to see...

So...results so far and what I think/would like to see... )

You know, I honestly don't care who wins it, as long as it isn't Boston.

Go Danielle!

I second this vote. Though I don't care who the opponent is as long as the Cubs take it all.

CUBSSSSSS! <3
They will come back from 0-2 to win the series against the Dodgers
and ever look back :)

From the AL, I love Boston. a lot. But, I think I'm gonna have to jump on the Rays bandwagon here.

Heh heh. I could live with the Cubs winning it - my aunt would be happy since that is who she roots for.

Is there anyone who doesn't support Boston, Anaheim or the Chi-Sox who isn't, at least in part, on the Rays bandwagon???

This is what I originally had before the playoffs started:

ALDS:
Angels beat Red Sox in 5
Rays beat White Sox in 5

NLDS:
Phillies beat Brewers in 3
Cubs beat Dodgers in 4

ALCS:
Angels beat Rays in 5
MVP: Mark Teixeira

NLCS:
Cubs beat Phils in 6
MVP: Alfonso Soriano

World Series:
Cubs over Angels in 7
MVP: Carlos Zambrano

Now, I might have to change it, haha.

See, now my thinking about the Rays is that they have no postseason experience, no ghosts of times missed to hold them back. I think you're looking at a team who are pretty much going to carry on what they've done all season and treat this like it's just another series on the season.

The Rays are not really burdened by expectation because they've already exceeded what most people expect of them this year...way exceeded it. If they went home at the end of the ALDS, they'd have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, because most people probably didn't even expect them to get into the post season via the Wild Card, let alone take the AL East.

I think these things are what will take them far in the postseason, and I think these things are the things that the Yankees (and other teams who've gone longer without a postseason) need to shed if they are to be successful again any time soon. Not to dwell on past failure, but not to hold on too tightly to past success either.
