In conclusion, don't buy a Roomba.

But now I need a new vacuum, and I need advice.

I originally got a cheapie one at Target (on sale for $89 and originally cost $149). It died and I had to pay $45 to fix it. Not six weeks later, it was acting up again and I ended up buying this Sharp from some friends who were moving overseas. I LOVE this thing. They said they paid $300 for it and they never had any problems. They had it for years before we bought it and it still works great!

the dysons are expensive but 100% worth it. i got mine as a present but would totally spend the money for these things. if you do go for it, i would try to get one of the smaller, under the furniture models. i have the standard one and it's a little unwieldy.

You can sometimes get refurbished Dysons from Woot.
