I know I promised pictures, like, six months ago. But now I have pictures that tell a story, rather than just a status I wasn't happy with.

And the microwave was higher than the top of the fridge? I can barely reach up to the top of the fridge, and I'm not that short!

Yes, and because of that counter/cabinet thing you'd have to lean over to get to it. Miserable. I have it on top of my fridge now, and it works fine. I don't use it that often, so the slight reach doesn't bother me. And it's out of the way.

What a lot of frustration with the kitchen. Happily, you've seen it through, though, to a better result. I like the rug and wish all my books would fit on a shelf like that for the sake of looking nice and neat. I've got a zillion books :)

Well, nearly all of my fiction had to move to the shelves behind my bed, if that makes you feel any better. But I'm not a book collector--I like reference books (including cookbooks), but for novels I mostly get rid of them once I've read them.
