Kosher wine in a box

Does anyone know of any kosher wines that are sold in 5L boxes, a la Franzia, and if so, where? Hubby has recently started drinking red wine for health reasons and we've burned through 3 750ml bottles (1 8oz serving/day) in the last week. At anywhere from $11-15/bottle, this has the potential to get really expensive in a hurry ( Read more... )

Haven't seen any, I'd ask your local liquor store or try sites like KosherWineRack.com (a quick search on there didn't find any) or KosherWine.com. I did find several much cheaper red wines, though from Alfasi and Altoona wineries. I have no idea what they taste like, though. You may have to order a bottle or two, then decide if its worth ordering a case.

For giggles I did a few searches for Kosher wine box. Box does not seem to be a search term on wine sites unless you want to organize your own crate, unfortunately.

Good luck!

I have a friend whose "house wine" is Alfasi. It will more than serve the purpose.

I find a lot of $7 bottles at the local wine store here, but no boxes. Also, trader joes has wonderful kosher wine at $4/bottle. Again, not boxes but it's cheap and that may help your plight!

I think the trick isn't to buy in box but to buy in bulk. Especially at this time of year (i.e. a scant few months before Pesach!), you should be able to buy wine by the case (that is, in cases of 12 bottles) fairly easily, and relatively cheap if you view it over the long run. Depending on where you are, you can order in a case of 12 bottles of decent wine for $60-70.
