Okay, commenter #2 needs to be shot repeatedly.

I keep kosher, and I'm an amateur wine connoiseur. I'd give him such a schooling in good kosher wines... Hell, there's a wine festival going on right now at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem which I intend to go to tomorrow night. Wine connoiseurs worldwide seem to like kosher wines, too... Israeli koshers are winning medals all over the world...

That's the lasting damage done by Manischewitz et al, of course. Lots of people think that "kosher wine" refers to a style of wine made with concord grape concentrate.

I wonder if anyone has ever experimented with blending small amounts of concord into a real wine . . .

*shudder* That sounds so wrong on so many levels...

Hm! On the other coast in New York, I can think of kosher restaurants that are delicious, dressy, youthful, innovative, and the like -- but none that quite qualify as trendy.

what a horrible time for one to be seriously and deeply considering conversion
for no other purpose but the love of G-d and feeling a strong connection to the faith
yeesh, everyone kind of assumes you're being trendy
ah well

Don't worry. Eventually this will all blow over and you'll be considered out of touch. Within a few decades you'll be retro!
