My mom sent me a long article on a new unauthorized oral history of Star Trek that's coming out (The Fifty Year Mission: The Complete, Uncensored, Unauthorized Oral History of Star Trek) which I can't wait to read. I hadn't even HEARD of this Spock doc, though. You give a thorough and well-balanced review, thanks.

Thanks! I got to see the SpockDoc early because I was a kickstarter backer; the movie isn't coming out until September 9th, so you should be able to see it then.

I read The Fifty Year Mission: The Complete, Uncensored, Unauthorized Oral History of Star Trek, and I was surprised to find that it was just a collection of short quotations. They're organized by topic, but I'd expected some sort of narrative, and it was surprising to find a zillion pages of short quotes, with no story or conclusions imposed by the authors. Of course, the organization does lead the reader to some conclusions, but it's not at all what I'd expected.

How did you like the book?

I haven't read it yet -- just the article my mom sent me about it. Interesting that they didn't try to tie it all together.
