Ha, oh, I don't think Beiste is really like Trunchbull! The latter was far meaner and more grotesque and awful to the kids, whereas Beiste is more fair and she wants what's best for them.
That New York performance was rad, one of the most enjoyable performances yet! :D

Beiste isn't truly Trunchbull like I know. She just (physically and emotional scars from childhood) reminded me of her. Beiste seemed to want to start afresh in this 'new' school, she hasn't really been "mean".

Ohhh...yeah, I do see what you mean. I always see Trunchbull as a horrifying menace of a woman, but yeah, she had childhood scars that haunted her and shaped the person she became and informed her interactions with other kids, so...good call, bb! I totally hadn't thought of it that way! Jeez, stop being so insightful, I feel dumb for not making that connection before. I only saw the physical resemblence, totally failed on the emotional connection.

Physical resemblence was the immediate thing that came to me. Then after Will realised that she had a harsh childhood it clicked. Trunchbull had enough anger to be mean, Beiste just wanted to get away from it all.
What are you talking about? YOU are the one that makes me feel inadequate when you do all your 'post episode' discussions or book detailing! >_
