Otherwise please try to hold onto any objects near you that will help you get through this ordeal alive! Here's the introductory background chapter with some details you might want to use but don't have to(please remember the setting is generic as discussed in FAQ). It would be good if everyone made sure to comment on each chapter  of course. The first one should be going up in aproximately 48hours from now. Hopefully it'll be a fun ride for all. I'll see you at the wrap up end. :)

Introduction...

One day in a medium sized town called Harvey’s Cleft which was a two hour drive away from the larger neighbouring city of Dainty in one direction, and led only to farmlands in the other direction, there was an odd occurrence that Tuesday afternoon around 3pm. When all radio, television and news outlets broadcast the same message to its townspeople and visitors.

“Attention Harvey’s Cleft, citizens, and all persons visiting or in the area. Authorities have had their attention called to a small outbreak of possibly a new virus or modified strain of some flu. At this stage there is nothing to worry about, with some citizens reporting hearing strange noises from their neighbours to some individuals expressing symptoms such as an urge for raw meat, muttering “brains, brains for me”, having a blue to green tinge to their skin and an absence of pain signals. There have been few reports of some afflicted individuals being so crazed that they have tried to hurt friends or family. A number of afflicted individuals appear to have visited the sole hairdressing shop of Harvey’s Cleft, Shelly’s Hair Salon, and currently the salon has been put under quarantine as it looks like the virus might have begun there. Doctors and relevant authorities from the city of Dainty will be researching the virus once suitable volunteers expressing the illness have been taken to the city for testing, in hopes of understanding the disease and a way to stop or cure it. Townspeople are advised to stay indoors and limit contact with people as much as possible. And anyone showing symptoms should head towards the hair salon where local authorities will assess you. Once again, at this stage there is nothing to worry about and regular updates will be made through media outlets like the one presently being made.”

The response to this news in Harvey’s Cleft was varied, with some immediately panicking, to the majority of the town not taking it very seriously and going about their everyday business. We will now follow individual accounts of a select few that were present or near the town the day this outbreak occurred...
