Year End

Jan 01, 2011 13:18

Because I'm waiting for my hair to dry and people to come over...

1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
Went to St. Petersbourg. Travelled across the states. Got a job that wasn't with Fire. Quit a job that wasn't with Fire... went to college. Went to my first real job interview. Failed at my first 6 interviews. Got my wisdom teeth out. A lot of stuff, I guess...

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I dont think I made any last year. If I did, I dont remember. They're usually the same every year. "get more confident. Lose weight. Have fun" I made a couple but ... eh. Mostly learn another language. Dont be so guarded. Lose weight :P

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Emmm.. nope.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, thankfully. Wait... I sadly cant remember if my uncle was this year or last. Im terrible. We were talking about this the other day, we had a series of deaths.. my grandma, my uncle, my aunt's dad... and we were trying to place them when they all were and we couldnt. We're all terrible.

5. What countries did you visit?
The US and Russia.

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
Be happy in my job. A boyfriend. A realistic dream.

7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Gosh.. uh.. January 8th I guess.. because that was the day I flew home from backpacking and it was sort of etched in my brain to remember. Other than that, nothing really. 2010 kind of sucked.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting into college in such a short amount of time and acing the majority of my classes, I guess... though... whatever, its not that big of a deal.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Settling.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Other than the black eye frmo my wisdom teeth... and I had a wicked cold at the beginning of the year that plagued me throughout Europe.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Hmmmm...Ive been trying to conserve my money this year soo uhhhh... no idea.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Wow, this question.. uh... probably this guy in my class... his whole personality made me want to be a better person. He was so level headed and open and caring.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
The doctors I worked for at the clinic...severely depressed me. Like, crying nearly every day, at a loss, hated my life, made me apply to college and accept within 3 days time just to get away, depressed me. Also, my brother and his fiancee. they really made me hate traveling and I resent them a bit for that. There's this stigma over that whole trip because of them and I hate that I cant talk about it fully without it hanging over me.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Well, just this year, to school. But from like October of last year, allllll to traveling. A good half...

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Coming home.. heh. Going to Hawaii. Being by myself in my house after 3 months of traveling and being in a room and sleeping with a handufl of other people.

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
Hmmm... the Only Exception by Paramore.... Breathe by Ryan Star... Live Like We're Dying by Kris Allen... anything by Amos Lee

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? About the same? Um... happier only because I really hit a low at this time traveling last year. Particularly this day because I was ditched in Moscow for about 12 hours without being told I was being ditched and I hated my life pretty severely at that moment.
ii. thinner or fatter? Probably fatter but not my much... I didnt lose as much weight as I wanted traveling but I still lost some because of all the walking and lugging the backpack.
iii. richer or poorer? richer, surprisingly enough. Mostly because my shitty job didnt pay me much this summer so school just sucked me dry.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Seen more concerts. More roadtrips.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Cry. Spent money. Slacked.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
With my family.

22. Did you fall in love in 2010?
Nope.

23. How many one-night stands?
Zero, thanks.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Supernatural... Destination truth... The Buried Life.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Ummm... no, not really.

26. What was the best book you read?
Hm, what did I read this year... probably Into Thin Air by John Krakaur.. I think I was reading that this year..

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
My rediscovery of Kris :P Probably Alexi Murdoch.

28. What did you want and got?
Laptop and new printer...

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Gosh uh... I didnt see a lot of movies this year... probably... eee.. I dont know...

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Ugh, I worked at my shitty job.. though they were nice enough to get me a tiny cake. I turned 23.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
More music... more friends... a settled job and plan.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
heh, the same as before...

34. What kept you sane?
Music...

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hm, who did I go between... Jonnie from TBL, Jake Gyllenhaal, Wentworth Miller, Cale Mills...

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
People's refusal to put up wind turbines(is that the right word) in my town because it would look ugly. Fuckin idiots.

37. Who did you miss?
Hm... friends I met traveling.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
A handful of people in my class.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:
I can do anything I want... as long as I work up the courage.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

she's fine, most of the time
she takes her days with a smile
she moves like dancing in light
spinning around to the sound
sometimes she falls down
breathe, just breathe
take the world off your shoulders
and put it on me
breathe, just breathe
let the life that you lead
be all that you need
- Breathe by Ryan Star

Also

So don't forget to breathe
Don't forget to breathe
Your whole life is here
No eleventh hour reprieve
So don't forget to breathe

Keep your head above water
But don't forget to breathe
-Breathe by Alexi Murdoch (yeah I know, both songs called Breathe... means something :P)

Alright that took longer than expected. I need to straighten my hair... Thanks to anyone who actually read this.. you guys did keep me sane too. It was a rough year, trying to figure out life and all that and its still continuing.. so here's hoping 2011 brings answers.
