Somewhere on the Beach, Monday Late Afternoon

Tahiri had promised Dinah an answer to the question she'd asked this morning, so after class she'd left a message for Dinah to meet her out here. Why on the beach, she didn't know; maybe it was the sand, or maybe it was the calming effect of the waves. The ocean was still more or less a novelty for her, anyway

After classes, and a nap, Dinah headed out to the beach, to the spot Tahiri had described in her message. She'd brought her boomerangs with her; going anywhere unarmed now seemed like a dumb idea, now that she knew what the Island could throw at her.

She hopped in and out of the waves a second, then joined Tahiri on the sand. "Hey."

"Is that a thing you just have to do?" Tahiri asked, amused. "The jumping?"

Dinah thought about it a second, then sheepishly said, "Pretty much? I love the ocean. Why not play in it?"

"True," Tahiri had to agree. She used to be so much better at small talk. She used to be able to do nothing but for hours on end. "It's a lot of water, though," she ventured lamely.
