From the Past or Future?

So in my Junk Mail box I keep getting messages with the date 01/18/38.  I'm wondering if it's 1938, 2038, or maybe even 3838!  I know there wasn't e-mail in 1938 but if someone has found a way to send e-mail through time, who's to say that they didn't time travel with the equipment?

Still, if you could pick up real estate in Costa Rica in 1938, imagine what it would be worth now?

Hmmm... I guess I hadn't thought of it that way. Wouldn't it be hard to establish ownership without being born yet, though? I just think it would be too complicated. I'll stick with my current situation (as sad as it may be).

Looks to me like the data got corrupted or filtered and they filled the time stamp with 1s. I believe that January 19, 2038 is when the traditional Unix time data type hits its maximum value.
