He is confined in the cold darkness and cannot move so much as a finger. He hears no sound other than the beating of his own heart. There is a gnawing sense of hunger as changes occur within him. The night is endless

I really like this! It's too bad the show decided to never explore anything about that.

But I think that anything more than teen angst would have stretched the production team's imagination a little too far.
