Renting Centerpieces?

We're having 23 tables and I have zero desire to end up with 23 "somethings" to find a place for after the wedding reception has come to a close.  Therefore, I'm considering renting centerpieces. I did a bit of googling, but didn't find too many places that provided this service nationwide (I'm in Maryland ( Read more... )

I noticed that some places who do rentals (like tables, chairs, linens) also rent out centerpieces.

You should check out the place you're getting plates and tables and things.

My venue provides default centerpieces if you don't want to worry about them, and they'll take them afterward. You could ask yours if they could do something similar.

My feeling is if you make the centerpieces attractive enough, you won't have a problem disposing of them. The women in my family will fight over the hurricane glass vases we're using, so I'm not terribly concerned about getting rid of mine.

Our caterer rents centerpieces. They have a selection of candles and vases and (for a small fee of course) they'll take care of it all. Check with your venue or caterer.

A few wedding's I've been to, guests have been happy to take centerpieces home with them. You could have something that is meant for people to take home. One wedding we went to the centerpieces were baskets of small potted plants, and your favor was a plant from the centerpiece. Economical and ecological.

That's a good idea (the plants as centerpieces/favors).

ayup! The first wedding I went to that did that (I was 16 or so) had roses as their centerpiece, and towards the end of the wedding had a woman wrapping them and giving them out. That way everyone got one. :)

at every wedding i've been to (at least 9) the centerpieces are given away to someone at each table. usually there is a little game of some sort to decide who gets it. a few times it's just whoever wants it takes it.

so if you do rent them, be very very clear to your guests that they aren't allowed to take them home!

I'll further reiterate that most guests will be more than happy to take home your centerpieces if they're really nice. So if you're worried about having to get rid of 23 centerpieces, I'm guessing you'll have at least 23 people willing to take them off your hands. ;D

That said, if you can't find any rental places that rent out straight-up centerpieces, you can probably rent vases and candle holders from your florist, and then you just have to buy some cheap candles. =) http://www.save-on-crafts.com/index.html has lots of good deals on wedding supplies, you can probably find candles for cheap.

Good luck!
