Houston, we have a wedding date!

Brief recap: Liz and James, engaged exactly three weeks as of yesterday, starting to plan for a fall 2012 wedding while I stress endlessly about budget and weather issues.

Well, a lot of what I was stressed out about in my last post has resolved itself. We were scheduled to tour two potential reception sites yesterday, the second of which (the site ( Read more... )

Wow! The amound of stuff they are giving you is so great, and especially that you can have more of the wedding YOU want, when you want, where you want, for how long you want, and it's very well put together by the place. I also switched venues (of course I switched three months before my wedding, not at the beginning) and was so happy I did becuase the place I picked was like yours in that it was much more accomodating and made everything so easy. I'm glad you found a place that works for you and your vision of the day. You have to remember that they're CATERERS so they are CATERING to what YOU WANT, not the other way around.

You know, you are absolutely right. And this was the first place we went to that seemed willing to do any 'catering' at all! We visited a venue last weekend, and when my fiance made a suggestion about where to move the ceremony if the weather was bad, we were flat-out told no! Needless to say, that was a real turnoff. Thank god for friendly, professional people who actually know what they're doing, LOL.

Awesome!!! Congrats on getting that done so quickly, that place sounds amazing! And that you could get your original date as well is super awesome. :D

Thanks! Since we're having a shortish engagement (though it's weird to think of a year as short), and a lot of people are booking things well over a year out, I knew it was going to be important to get my butt in gear on booking the venue and other major things. And my mother also got married over Columbus Day weekend, so she was a big advocate for that date, LOL. Needless to say, she's very glad that's the date we ended up with!

I had my junior prom at the Century House! I haven't been back since, but my sister just went to a wedding there 2 weeks ago.

It seems like everyone in this area has either been to an event at Century House or knows someone who has. My fiance's work Christmas party was actually there a couple years ago - in the same room we'll be having our reception in!

My fiance and I wanted to get married on this date too! (it would be our 3 and a half year anniversary) But alas, no budget has been decided just yet. Congrats to you both! (:

Wow, what a beautiful venue! Sounds like the package you got is a lot like the venue we picked. And it's pretty great having all that stuff included, isn't it? :)
