Hair & Makeup Question

Our entire wedding is being paid for by my fiance and all of my bridal party knows that. Is it awful to ask anyone who wants hair and makeup done professionally to help us out a little bit with the costs? Makeup is going to be $85 a person ($200 for me) and hair I have no idea how much yet. Is it wrong if we ask everyone to give us $100 towards it ( Read more... )

Two weddings that I was in, I paid for my own hair/makeup (well, I did my own makeup actually) and had no problem with that- I think it's fine! I'm sure opinions will vary on this one...

Forgot to mention- I wouldn't make it a requirement to get hair/makeup done if you are asking them to pay though. A way to word it could be "Do you want a hair and makeup appointment for that day? It will cost around $$$whatever dollar amount." That way if they feel uncomfortable with the cost they have an out, ya know?

Just ask them to pay their own way & give them the option of getting it done! I told my ladies how much everything was & said if they want to get it done, fine, if not, that's fine, too.

If you're giving them the option of having their hair and makeup done, it's fine to ask them to pay for it. Those who don't want to pay for it can do their own hair and makeup.

If you're requiring them to get their hair/makeup done because you want them to all look a certain way, it is wrong to ask them to pay for it in my opinion.

If it were just my BM and one of the flower girls I wouldn't mind paying for it but we have family that wants it all done professionally as well. I honestly don't want them looking all the same at all

Not at all! I made mine optional but I couldn't pay for it and some of them chose it and some of them didn't.

No, in fact unless otherwise stated it is usually assumed that BM's will pay for their own stuff.

The only time you need to pay is if you require they get their hair and/or make up professionally done. But if you're fine with them doing their own hair and MU, or if they choose to go professional, you shouldn't have to pay for that.
