shower favors - help!

May 28, 2011 10:47

Hi all - it's been so long since I posted! I SO miss wedding planning! LOL Well... my SIL is a BM (one of like 7 or 8) and she needs to come up with a DIY & inexpensive favor for a shower. We thought about truffles but they have to travel and she can't guarantee they won't melt - even with a cooler! Any other ideas for things that are well-received ( Read more... )

What about cookies? Chocolate chip, oatmeal rasin, etc. Something people at the party will really take home and enjoy, instead of some crafty thing you spend days making that gathers dust on a shelf.

Or, candy minis + chiffon + ribbon = done.

I like the idea of candy and done. I'll run that past the SIL.

We made chocolate covered blueberries for a friend's shower favors--dip them in melted chocolate (dark is usually best, and has a higher melting point), pop 'em in the fridge until the chocolate hardens, then put them in little favor boxes like you can get at Michael's. Since the chocolate layer is so thin it would be easy to keep from melting in a cooler or even just an insulated lunch box. If they're kept in the fridge or freezer until it's time to move them, the blueberry will act as its own little cooling gel pack. :D We didn't have a problem with melting and they sat in their little boxes on a table outside in spring sunshine.

A cute sticker and ribbon on the box and voila, you have a cute edible favor that you can argue is good for you. :)

We ended up making chocolate bark - just used dark, milk and white chocolates with swirls of pink (her colors are black & hot pink) and we tied them in cello bags with black & hot pink ribbons.

My mother just threw us a shower. For a favour she had garden flowers. She put the container part in a drinking cup so people could put it in a cup holder for the drive home.

Sugar cookies travel pretty well, and this engagement ring-shaped cookie cutter (http://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Solitaire-Engagement-Anniversary-Wedding/dp/B002XACDPK) is only $1.29.
She can make royal icing in one of the shower/wedding colors and outline the ring shape. Pop each one in a little cello bag and tie with a ribbon.

I love sugar cookies! We did heart shaped ones for my shower last year!

I bought little favor boxes at Michael's***, filled them with wildflower seeds and tied wedding color ribbon around them with a tag I stamped. I should probably just post a picture:
