Music and DJ's...

Oct 25, 2010 19:46

Does anyone in the California Bay Area know any good DJ's? I know there were a few Cali-ladies around, but I am not sure how many are around me. I figured I'd check here first though, in case anyone had some suggestions...

Also, I have been trying to pick out a song for the first dance...

Music under the cut :) )

Ugh, sorry, I can't edit comments. Anyway, Iron & Wine's cover of Sterolab's "Peng 33" is really nice and soft, with no Twilight connection. The original is a bit noisy for a first dance song (in my opinion).

You taste in music looks pretty awesome.

That's so pretty. I love the twangy guitars
around 1:40 @_@

And LOL. My musical tastes run all over, but
most of the stuff I want for a dance are slower
and more mellow than my usual listens. I find
most of the stuff I listen to has a love/hate
theme to it. XD

Most of the stuff I listen to is just flat out depressing to most people (Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Cat Power, Jason Molina), or too jarring for a wedding (Sonic Youth, Guided By Voices, Pixies).

Lmao same =) It's actually kind of ironic cos
I am very rarely sad or depressed about anything.

Gah I wish their site mentioned more about how to
go about booking them for a wedding or something.
I am adding them to my wedding folder for sure tho.
Thank you =)

Oh I like that. It's kind of cinematic. :) There
was a song I considered that was kind of like this
in the way that there is a kind of 'bam' and 'loud'
cinematic feel to it:

In the end, tho the lyrics are so perfect and I love
the song, I ended up deciding it was too much for a
pair of bad dancers xD Maybe too fast...lol.

We used Feet First Entertainment. They have offices in SoCal (which we went through) and in the Bay Area.

And our first dance was "Sea of Love," the Cat Power version (from the Juno soundtrack). It was sweet and SHORT. People liked it and asked who the artist was.

Thanks so much for the reference. I added it to
my wedding folder to go over later =)

And <3 Cat Power, they are so good. I love that
song too~ I wanted to say it's short and sweet,
but you already have :) I have 'The Greatest' in
my first dance consideration list as well =) I'm
a sucker for violins haha.
