Photo sharing site?

I was just married yesterday (?!?!) and I would like to create a photo-sharing site for my guests.  Flickr requires a Yahoo account and Picasa requires a Google/gmail account.  I'd prefer something that doesn't require a particular email address, though, as I can already imagine folks who aren't computer savvy being totally put off by having to ( Read more... )

How easy is it to download the photos once they've been uploaded?

I'm in the same boat as the OP on this, so thanks! I might have to try this out. I'm thinking of doing a photo scavenger hunt during the reception, but I don't want to spend money on disposable cameras that will take crappy shots, so I thought maybe I could rely on the guests who bring their own digital cameras (I think most people do these days) and ask them to contribute their photos to a sharing site that I'll set up. However, I thought the same thing as the OP - what if people who don't go online much are put off by having to sign up for a billion things just to share their pics?!

I am using iRave, which as I'm looking at it now asks for an email (not a sign up) but I think this may be because I have image moderation turned on and it needs an email to send approved/rejected emails to. It also has an option to email a special address based on the album title.

I've also used Irave. You just give your guests a email and they can just email to that link with attachment, or go to a website and upload them themselves.

We created a new Flickr account and distributed the login name and password to everyone -- so they weren't using their own info, they were using the specific wedding-related info we provided.

We have a "Photography: Digital sharing" tag exactly for this purpose: http://community.livejournal.com/weddingplans/tag/photography%3A%20digital%20sharing

Ooh, oops! Thanks! When I posted this morning, I hadn't yet had my coffee (we kinda neglected to go grocery shopping in the three or four weeks before the wedding...) so I didn't think to check the tags!

As another poster implied, your problem doesn't exist. Generally when you set up a flikr/picasa/whatever, you create the account and then provide your guests with the log-in info, so that they can log on and upload photos to your album. In that case, they don't need anything special, JUST the log-in info that you supply them. They don't have to sign up for an account, only you do!
