What do his groomsmen like? Get gifts that appeal to their interests, not just gifts that are found in the "attendant gifts" section of theknot.com.

Yep. As someone who doesn't wear jewelry very much or dress up at all, I'd find pashminas, initial jewelry, and a jewelry roll pretty useless, too. OP, make sure your friends are actually going to use these things. Otherwise, it's just a waste of your money and doesn't speak well for your friendship with these people. Yes, it's the thought that counts, but if you're not putting any thought into what they, as individual people, may want, then it's just a waste.

We did Leathermans as thank-you gifts and our attendants loved them.

For the guys, DH paid for half of their tux rental in place of a phyiscal gift since the majority of the guys preferred this with the economy/job market being the way it is

We got the men these: http://www.villagehatshop.com/jaxon_hats_ivy-caps_linen.html plus cuff links shaped like things they like (golf, playing cards, etc).

The women will receive Lands End totes with their initials, flip flops, mani-pedis and a small bag of Origins products.

We're going to do photo albums for our parents after the wedding.
