Ceremony arch

So I definitely just swiped this picture from someone's progress post from yesterday because it really caught my eye. I was originally opposed to the idea of a ceremony arch because I just pictured something all white and gaudy, but something like this would be BEAUTIFUL and perfectly fit what I envision for the ceremony.

I haven't made one, but I've seen twiggy materials like that at the local craft store in the floral department, so I imagine it'd be fairly easy to find materials to construct one.

Yeah, it doesn't look too difficult, looks almost like the twigs or whatever are placed in some sort of planters and then they just lay some horizontally between the two planters.

Glad to be inspiring! ;)

I intend to have a friend help me, so I'm not really sure what it'll cost yet. I know those are curly willow branches, and as someone else wrote, you can find them on that "save on crafts"-website, or at crafts stores. You also need to find big jars or planters and fill them with something heavy. Stick the branches in, use clear fishing line to attach flowers, and whala! Arch! But then, I'm not the one making it, so...it's probably more complicated than all that. :)

I did get 2 quotes from florists in Madison, and they gave me "starting at" $350, and $500. Hope that helps!

I know what you mean, when I think about things like that it sounds so simple in my head - "So I just tie some sticks together, right?" Haha it's how I get started on a lot of unfinished DIY projects... When is your wedding? Just wondering if it's before or after mine so I can bug you for an update on how The Making of the Arch went ;)

I totally stole that photo too! Not only for the arch, but for the cool tall vases at the end of the aisle with the callas in them. Actually the green aisle pomanders are pretty cute too. Really this entire photo just takes the cake for me :D

Thanks for those links! The first one with the lights is so gorgeous, it makes me want to have an evening wedding...

...maybe you could have actual *growing* bushes for each end, and lean the ends over towards each other depending on height, or lay extra branches across and tie them etc. with ribbons or whathaveyou...that could be great, and you could plant the bushes outdoors or save them or whatever...good idea!!!
