oh-hey Canada!

Where are you Canadian brides registering? I'm pretty pissed that Canadian Tire doesn't offer a registry anymore. That would have been my first choice. I also checked out The Bay, but their website says you have to complete your registry in person and also if you want to add or delete things from it afterwards, you have to contact them, you can't ( Read more... )

Sears! Pretty much the only place available. Also, stokes for pretty fun kitchen things

Also, I am from Newfoundland.. if there was a Bay nearby I would probably go to the store and set it up! Their stuff is nicer. But Sears has a lot of good things and you can do it online.

My Canadian friends and I all registered at The Bay - your guests have the option of either purchasing off the registry and bringing gift to you, or they can leave it at the home store that you specify (and you can retrieve the gifts afterwards).

A word of warning: some Bay stores are terrible about actually handing over the gifts; I had to chase after two skillets and a cutting board from one of our friends who we thought had given us our wedding pictures as a gift (she was the second 'official' photographer, we did not pay her but asked if it was ok she capture our wedding beside the pro). I had to have the email in hand from the friend who we unfortunately had to ask and badger them rather badly before they admitted that it was hidden in a corner by accident.

Besides, it's fun to go around with the scanner gun and scan things... don't deprive yourself of this amusement. And once I set up my registry I didn't think twice about it; it was there merely as inspiration for my guests if they wanted an idea of what we were looking

wow, that's sucky about them holding your gifts :(

and it does sound amusing scanning things at the store, I was imagining more walking around with a lady suggesting expensive china and it didn't sound fun

Nah, after filling out the paper work we were handed the gun and set loose on the store. The fun part was the look on my husband's face every time I suggested something extremely ludicrous (ie the hot pink barbie sheet set for our marital bed).

Good thing he has a very good sense of humor...

If your looking for china rob mcintosh has an online registry that you can set up yourself (I haven't done it yet as i'm procrastinating until the last minute =D) http://www.robmcintoshchina.com/bridal.html

for Bed, Bath, Dog and White Tea/Gift sets Westin also has one http://canada.westin-hotelsathome.com

This website has a list of bridal registry's in Ontario (if your located there) http://www.bridal.ca/categories/bridal_registry/index.htm

I hope this helps some

I think we're going to register at The Bay and Home Outfitters (since they're the same) and possible CookWorks (I'm in Vancouver and I don't know if they have locations elsewhere in the country), but I'm only registering there for the completion discount (I love their stuff, but I don't think any of my relatives will come downtown to buy things from that store).

for the Bay and HO do you have to create 2 registries for both or they are combined into one?

They are two different registries and you do have to be careful about which registry you end up printing off at the store - as both Bay & HO registries are available for print at both stores.

You can also set up at Crate and Barrel and Pottery Barn if you're in Toronto. The Bay and Home Outfitters were fabulous and, as noted above, you can manage your registry from your home computer after you've scanned in the store.

Note of advise: The Bay is really annoying with carrying too many seasonal items that have high turnover and get discontinued if you register too far in advance (even two months in advance). This is my biggest gripe.

I'm in Montreal, actually
and The Bay website does say that if I want to add or remove things then I have to contact them, so are you sure I can just do it by myself?

You can def. delete things, and change the requested quantity, but you can't add things.
